This is an amazing transformation for my client Amy. Amy lost 22 kilos, in total over the space of about an year. I would say for the first six months, she didn’t really see much results at all, and it was really the last six months that she saw all her results and lost all her weight.
When she first came to me, I realized very early on that diet was going to be the biggest issue. Basically her diet involved a lot of processed carbohydrates, and lots of starchy carbohydrates such as bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, and stuff like that.
What we needed to do was, we needed to make sure that we increased her protein straight away, because she’s going to be doing more weight training with me. I wanted to decrease her processed and starchy carbohydrates and replace those with as many vegetables as possible, also adding some fruit and healthy fats to her diet.
With her training; she trained with me twice a week. In our training sessions, we’d always start with a big compound lift for strength, that would be either Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift, Shoulder Press, or the Olympic lifts and we’d finish with a high intensity work out, which varied every single week. She was then required to come in on her own, at least two to three times a week, and that would mainly consist of doing high intensity workouts on her own.
When I first had Amy, it was clear that she was really going to struggle with diet, and I don’t think she quite realized how important it was to lose weight. I think she was just convinced that she could just exercise and the weight would come off. Then she finally did make the switch on her diet, everything really started to come together. When she started to lose some weight, it really motivated her to eat even healthier and come into the gym even more.
When she started seeing some changes, all of a sudden not only was she doing her two PT sessions, but then she was doing three to four sessions on her own, also the diet which then did consist mainly of starchy carbohydrates, were decreased until she’d only have them after a workout and her diet was very heavy with vegetables and the weight really started to drop off.
What the biggest achievement of this transformation, is not just the 22 kilos that she lost, but the fact that she’s kept it off now, and she’s now moved, she lives in England, she’s kept the weight off. She’s still fit, super healthy, and fitter than when she trained with me, still eating healthy and that’s the proudest thing, not only losing weight, but being able to keep it off for good. That’s what really excites me.
